Rooftop decks
With just a little effort and a few hours work, you can create a most attractive rooftop hideaway.... a delightful spot to spend time in the company of family or friends and enjoy those wonderful views.
Whilst many building owners impose restrictions on building permanent structures on rooftops, this generally applies to conventional roof decking materials that must be fixed to the surface in some way. Generally speaking, you are not permitted to permanently fix any building materials to the roof surface or use any type of roof decking which may damage any waterproof membranes.
With SwiftDeck however, the tiles are not fixed in any way to the surface, will not normally cause any damage to waterproof membranes, and can be taken up and removed whenever the situation demands. They simply sit on top of the existing surface with no nails, no screws and no adhesives. As each tile is locked together to its neighbor, the deck won't move or slide once installed. Normal precautions however need to taken in areas prone to hurricanes or other exceptional wind conditions.
And of course the tiles are so easy to move to the rooftop. There's no need to lug long lengths of lumber in elevators or up stairs...just carry the convenient size boxes of tiles onto the rooftop and you can start building your roof deck right away.
Even if your building owner has concerns about the "feet" on the tiles damaging the membrane, a simple solution is to lay down an EPDM sheet over the entire rooftop where you intend to install the tiles, and then lay tiles directly on top of this EPDM sheet. You can buy EPDM in different widths with lengths up to 50' wide from specialist suppliers such as Resource Conservation Technology or Bestmaterials.com who can also custom fabricate a single sheet to avoid seams. They can also supply a complete system that includes all required adhesives, sealants etc.
